Help with bettas?

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
Do you think that if I provided lots of hiding spaces I could keep a male & female betta together in a thirty-gallon tank?

hmmm ive been reading about that, some thai method where they put the pair together but with alot of vegitation to create a natural habitat, ive even read about the makle being left in there after spawning thus making the fry (future dads/moms) be more attentive to there kids and so forth but i read it havent seen it with my own eyes :D

In short, it can be done, with *lots* of hiding spaces. But chances are they'll end up living at a high stress level, because anytime they see eachother the male will attempt to breed, which is a very aggressive activity for bettas. This is especially true if the fish weren't raised together. You might be able to pull it off with a brother and sister that grew up in the same community tank, but if you tried it with two random fish, chances are it'd end badly for one fish or the other.
