I have what I think is a Black Neon Tetra, female carrying a clutch of eggs. She looks like a balloon and as soon as I noticed I put her in a breeder tank and purchased a male to fertilize the clutch when she was ready to lay the eggs. However it's been a week and she hasn't layed the eggs and to top it off her and the male developed ich, I'm treating them for it right now. But I was wondering if she is really carrying a clutch or if she's suffering from some other disease. She seems to be getting slightly bigger to the point where she seems to be tearing parts of her stomach. In the back of her stomach I can see red markings where the skin may be splitting and some of the silver that covers her belly has come off and I can see an orange glow emanating from it when she's in the light. Is that orange glow the light reflecting off of the eggs in her stomach or is she simply sick with some sort of disease.

Her girth is even on both sides ruling out the possibility of a tumor, what do you guys think? Is she carrying a clutch? Or is she sick?

um maybe it is dropsy, look up the disease online. I think if you look at her from the top and she looks like a pine cone, cuz the scales pop out, it is dropsy. It could even be in the early stages of it. Not sure.

actually do they have any fungus? because i thought my females were pregant and then they died without having any babies, read my post-- Guppy Issue-- just a thought, it might be what mine had as well.
