Help with clover

I have some clover, at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I'm not really sure what to do with it. It sends out runners, I guess, they have roots all along them, but they're so light that they float. The roots are too small to get to stay in the substrate. Should it grow like a ground cover? I've been just letting it go, and it tends to just get bushy, and looks kinda sloppy. Any help?

you should be able to plant it. if it's in four leaf clover form it'll probably turn into into submerged form (although i think there are some clovers that won't do this), which only has 1 leaf instead of the 4. put the stem and roots all the way down into the substrate so that the only thing sticking out are the leaves. a small pair of tweezers helps a lot with this process.

It's been submerged for a few months, and I bought it from mgamer who I assume had it submerged. It does only have 1 leaf, although it doesn't quite look like the other pics I've seen. So I can bury the whole thing? That helps, thanks!

i don't know a thing about clover, but i wanted to say that that's a nice looking tank! =)

Its not clover, which is actually marsilea. It is pennywort, aka hydrocotyle leucocephala.

You can try forever to keep it rooted or let it do what it does best. Float.

Yeah, i don't see any clover or Marsilea in your tank just what appears to be Pennywort. If you are referring to the plant with nickel sized leaves. It takes some deep and heavy substrate to stay put IME. It likes to float!

oh I thought he meant he had some that he wanted to plant. no there definitely isn't any clover in there that I can see. check out the pictures of my tank before the rescape (click the link in my signature); that's what clover looks like. much smaller than the plant there on the left of the tank

Haha. Thanks guys. It does actually seems to be staying in the substrate ok, I just can't be picky about how it looks. I'm not sure it would do well floating, there's a pretty high filter current. But thanks!
