Help with dosing Fertilizers

I would like to make a bottle of fertilizers on the weekend and use it during the week. I was thinking about using the 24 oz pop bottle that have been cleaned out.

Trace- Flourish Comprehensive Plant Supplement… 1 cap full
Nitrate- Grant’s Stump Remover… 1 table spoon
Phosphate- Fleet Enema… 2 drops
Potassium- No-Salt... 1/2 pack after water change (10 gallons weekly)
Iron- Flourish Iron… 2 caps full
Carbon- DYI Co2 + Flourish Carbon… 1 cap full

This is what I’m dosing 2 times a week. Is it safe to mix this up on Sundays to make dosing easer for Thursday?

This keeps my Phosphates at 1.0, Nitrates 10 to 20, my PH at 7.4, my KH and GH at 10.

I have been dosing the same amounts for 5 weeks and I would like to think I could test everything once a week unless something doesn’t look right. My plants are growing good and I don’t have but a small amount of algae in the tank.

I know the amounts will need to change from time to time.
Any ideas and thoughts would be helpful.

With my plant load I do need to add the nitrates to my tank more often but it looks like my phosphate will stay stable.


I would like to be able to mix up a mix for my fertilizers and dose with it during 2 times during the week and on the weekend play with the nice size chemistry set I have and do some adjusting. Dose some one has a good detailed list of stuff to make my own fertilizers mix to start with. I know it’s different on every tank and it changes some form time to time.

I’m planning on overdriving 2 of my NO lights soon. Next will be a second canister filter followed by a dosing pump for my fertilizers if I can get them to constant point dosing during the week. It will be a few months before I get the dosing pump but I still would like to get a consistent amount for fertilizing during the week.

Sounds like you've got it down. By fertilizer mix do you mean trace elements? Local hydroponics stores sometimes carry them. Try searching for trace ferts, I know there are online suppliers but don't have the addresses. TheKrib has articles too.
Sounds like I'm a few weeks behind you as I just started dosing. I'm interested in seeing how it turns out for you.

I want to mix my Flourish Comprehensive Plant Supplement, Grant’s Stump Remover, Fleet Enema, Flourish Iron, and Flourish Carbon up in a bottle on the weekend for use on Tuesday and Thursday. I don’t know if there will be any comical reaction with that stuff when it’s not diluted out a lot. My week days are not going to be fun soon with the 60+ hours a week I will be working soon. But I will have Sundays off it looks like.

I’m planning on using more of the high teak cheaper things for my fertilizers as time goes on. But for now I’m just going to go the cheaper way on part of the stuff. I hope with in a year I will have an auto dowser and will be mixing up my chemicals once a month and doing small weekly adjustments.
