Help with German Blue Ram

The eggs got eaten, I was going to remove the eggs next time....now there will be no next time *uncontrollable sobbing*.

He turned a dark color and lost his prettiness, and spent the last two days "hiding" in the plants and around the bottom.

I'm so sad.

sorry to hear that. hopefully you'll find another one! How's the female?

that happened to mine old one, its lost all its good colours apart from blacka and then that started to fade, it like like a Bolivian(spelling?) Ram and the the next morning it looked as though its spine was broken...

female looks the same as he did now, just checked. I bet she'll die too. What could it be? The water tests fine. The only thing I've done is after the advice of a LFS owner I added some ph buffer stuff that's supposed to reset it to 7.0. #$#!%$! fish store! It didn't work. I added the powder about 5 days ago and have tested twice since and ph is the same. Could that have done it? I did a small water change adding ro water yesterday. I used prime which I've never used before. Would that do it? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! (badis don't look so hot either, everyone else is fine)

I don't know if this was mentioned but Blue rams are regularly given hormones at the fish farm so they will show their colors as juveniles. GBRs that are given hormones and have great color as juveniles will often lose their color as they get older.

That's what I've heard too, many GBRs are imported from China, the hormones are one reason for their rampant infertility rates

Fungi do you think Black Sharks GBR are hormoned up? i know the import could be, btw im getting it tomorrow

I think 'cos we're geographically isolated we wouldn't import as many fish as other countries, they've probably been bred here.

i know there imported ones (they got some new stock) and they're alot bigger! but yeah where more "geographically isolated"

I have the opposite with my pair of Rams. The male is always vibrant colors, bold and sassy, even bossy with all the other fish in the tank. The female seems to go back and forth between bright colors and sassy and faded and getting chased by the male. I figured it was a breeding thing but I've never seen any eggs laid.
