I just bought a Small Jack Dempsey at a LFS yesterday. The fish is doing fine, swimming, eating..., but he seems to have lost alot of his color. Does anyone know anything about this, Thanks

My Jack Dempsey was very dark in color when it was in the store, and after I brought him home.. within a few days all these great colors started coming out. I am guessing its simply from stress, give him a few days and the colors will start to appear again. Is everything alright with your water?

Ya water is fine, fish is acting fine, he just lost alot of color.

SA cichlids often lose color when stressed or pouting. He will probably color up soon. Feeding spirulina is good for bringing out blues and greens. A good orange/reddish omnivore food like pellets helps bring out the yellow.

Advice on JD is right on...
Some advice for Silver Dollar...
Silver Dollars do best in schools of atleast five plus (5+) fish, this helps keep their stress levels down and acting in a more natural manner, happier/healthier. Will also help by spreading a out any aggression from the JD, five fast fish are harder to bully than one.
