I'm looking for a new light setup for my 5' 120 in my sig. I want to use T5's and am looking at ATI fixtures but I'm not too sure about having 4 x 54w bulbs over my tank. I will be buying a few things to complete my CO2 system in the next few weeks so it'll have CO2 but I don't want to have too much high tech stuff as I don't want to be prunning every week. So what says the AC crew, is 216 watts of T5 bulbs (4 foot fixture) too much for what I want?

Also do you guys thing that the large diffuser Green leaf sells will be big enough for my needs? And lastly what kind of bulbs should I be getting?

Thanks for the help guys and gals

Sounds about right to me for what your looking to do, what kind of co2 are you getting? I use the big green leaf diffuser, It works great on my 55g, but its impossible for me to count bubbles. It would probably work for 125.

well you should be fine with that size of tank and that light. not sure if you will have problems with just a glass diffuser. if you have a canister filter on that thing i would just run and inline reactor.

Co2 is a bottle running the manifold and needle valve that comes with the dr FS deluxe CO2 kit. I'm trying to get rid of the pump and reactor that came with it to try and clean up the look in the tank. I'm running a FX5 canister filter, I would just have to let the airline into the input of the filter to defuse it like that, correct?

If you're worried about too much light just run 2 tubes until your CO2 is online.

Good point about running just 2 of the tubes in the mean time. Now I just have to pick up those supplies. Thanks for the help guys!

If your havent purchased the lights yet, ATI does produce a 5" T5 fictures, with bulb wattages of 80watt each. 2-3 bulbs would give you light levels your prefer and better coverage.

I'm telling you, DIY CFL's are the way to go!
Cheap, and you can change the light as you need it!

I have 4x23 watts over my 46 gallon, soon I'll be upgrading the lighting to 4x42 watts, or maybe 2x23 and 2x42
