Help with loaches ????????? Help

Hi. I'm getting a 30-40 gallon tank and I want a dojo or kuhli loach. But... I haven't seen them at Pet stores... my question is, can you get them at Petco and how much do they cost?

Thanx.... if you have any other tips, could you give me them? I really want a loach...

I'm surprised you haven't seen them, they are pretty common. Ask your LFS if they will order you one. They will usually do this. I will tell you that dojo loaches really are a coolwater fish and dont live as long in a tropical tank. You may want to go with the kuhli's for this reason.

I would go with the kuhlis since you will have more choices for tank mates. You should keep them in a group of 5 or more and I would expect to pay around $1-5 each.

How big do kuhlis get though? I wanted a dojo, cuz they're bigger, but I thought kuhlis were small... how big are they?

I would go for the dojo. I've had dojos in the past and they have great personality, they aren't aggressive but very hyper and fun to watch.

If you go the dojo route plan on getting the 40 gallon and not keeping many other species with them.
