Hi I have a 5 gal eclipse with bio wheel and heater. In it there is 1 betta, 1 ghost shrimp,1 mystery snail and several live plants. Initially salted the water but stopped adding salt with water changes bc it was hurting my plants. The water quality is good (Ph 6.8, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates). Anyway I am completely in love with my betta and he loves me back as demonstrated by his huge bubblenests! I look at him close up, often and now have seen a small white dot on his eye. Almost looks like an air bubble but is too white. Also the the other eye is somewhat cloudy. Any ideas? The ghost shrimp can be aggressive when its feeding time and the betta flares at him when he comes too close to the bubblenest. Could this be and injury from the shrimp? ...the beginning of popeye? The snail was added about 1 week ago did he bring some type of eye fluke with him? Betta behavior is normal and he eats like a pig but I'm still worried. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's possible that its either popeye or cloudy eye. If it is you need to act fast or he will lose his eye. This happened to one of my bettas a while ago. It started out as a plain white dot, then progressed into cloudy eye where the whole eye was white. I didn't know better at the time and he ended up losing his eye. Some say poor water quality is to blame. But I'd recommend doing some research on it and seeing if any meds are available. And of course, do water changes.
