My Java Fern has been going downhill for the past few months.
Here are pics:

Here are my tank parameters:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 10 ppm
Light: 78 W of 6500 K CFC
Tank Size: 55 Gallon

I am not using any ferts. Any thoughts on what I can do to help with the brown/black dying leaves?

Thanks!

hi kuch daddy. It looks normal to me. This constantly happens to my fern where the leaves turn black or brown and dies off. so long as the rhizome is not burried it should shoot out more leaves. try dosing with some liquid ferts if you have any.

I would remove the damaged leaves and make sure the moss isnt blocking to much light from it..

Thanks for the tips.
It just seems like I am getting a lot more dead leaves than I used to and I was concerned. I have had the Java Fern for two years, and I would get the occasional dead leaf, but not to this degree.
Oh well, maybe that's just how they are.

pretty typical..prob just old leaves.. it should start new leaves as long as the rhizome is not buried.
