I'm totally confused with stocking my new cycled 20 gallon tank.

Heres what I'm thinking so far. I would like to have possibly 2 schools of fish, 1 of which maybe neon tetras. And maybe 2 or more larger fish, 1 of which being a blue dwarf gourami.

I would like a colorful, active looking tank. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and the fish I have mentioned do not have to be included if you have any other ideas. Thanks.

I thin you would be best with just one school of 9-10 neons or other such schooling fish, glowlight and rummynose tetras as well as harlequin rasboras are onthe good choices. as for 2 centerpiece fish... you should get something like a betta, gourami, or small new world cichlid (such as a ram or aptiso.) for and then a small type pleco like a clown pleco or a bristlenose pleco or maybe a pair of khulii loaches. you could also do cories instead of those two bottom dwelling choices if you want more schooling fish.

I hope this was a typo fc. :pc: Do not get clown loaches! They get way too big for a 20 gallon aquarium.

don't get a clown pleco unless you have driftwood in the tank.

heres what i would do with that tank: I'd get a school of cherry barbs, like 10, which imo are funner to watch then neons, i'd get a like six cories, pandas, peppered, and albino, and for the centerpiece i'd get an african butterfly fish.

Hi,

You should get a school of six-eight Cories(Schwartz's or Three-Striped). A nice school of Cardinal Tetras, and a couple Rams or Agassiz's Dwarf Cichlid.

Cory Lover

no butterfly fish, they are very aggressive and need mucho swimming space. 20G minimum, all by their lonesome. that is also overstocked, he could not do "a couple rams" in a 10G. he could, however, do 6 panda cories, (those ones you reccomended i wouldn't do in a 10G, not enough space.) 6 cardinals, and 1 ram or apisto. (dwarf aggasizs cichlid)
