help with restarted a 10g

The reason for the "water transfusion" wasn't for bacteria, it was for food for the bacteria. If you're transfering media anyway, you aren't worrying about the tank being "pristine". GCL's suggestion is a good one, and I've used it several times although it definitely takes a bit longer than just grabbing a bunch of media from the old tank and moving it over.

so what i ended up doing was just putting a good sized pile of stones (from the 20g) in the tank and filling it half way with water from the 20g. plus i used the blue mesh from the 20g filter for the filter on the 10.

the water was pretty dirty when i put it in and a lot of crap settled on the bottom but in the morning most of it was gone which i took as the bacteria eating it, maybe i am wrong. i tested all the levels and everything was good. so i adding stones i got from Lake Erie for the bottom stones and put my Platies in. moved the whole rig to the store today and things seem to be going well.

now i just have to get rid of some of my Guppies from the 20g and i should be set.
