I waited awhile for these fish to become larger and I am just having a devil of a time with them. The first set of pics are my German Blue Rams, the 2nd set is angelfish, and finally my 3rd are 2 sets of Candy Cane Tetra that seem to have paired off???

I would like to try to get some confirmation on these as I have some other 20 gallon tanks that I would like to try breeding these folks.

This is my first post here. I have been a lurker for awhile. A little about me.. I am 44 years old, live in Nebraska, raise 2 children by myself. I have a 55 gallon tank, 1 29 gallon tank, and 2 more 20 gallon long tanks.. The 29 gallon tank currently only has a pair of kribs and a black ghost knife fish.. The 2 20 gallon long tanks are new cycles that are almost a month and ready for fish. The main 55 gallon tank has the groups mentioned above plus clown loach, red tailed shark, and some various live bearers.

Tetras do not really "pair off". They breed in groups with a few males and more then a few females.
The first picture I cannot tell, but picture 2, 3, and 4 are all females, not 100% on picture 5 and 6, but looks female too.
Angles I cannot tell till the breeding tube is out.
On tetras, the female is "plumper" or more rounder. The upper picture looks like 2 males, the lower picture, the upper tetra is female.

For the rams, females in breeding condition will get really pink bellies, that's the best way to tell. Unfortunately for identification, angel fish are one of those species that isn't really sexually dimorphic. Some people claim they can tell by fin shape or whatnot, but IMO it is really just best guessing until you see them spawn.

Well looks like I need to find me some male rams haha.. Thats 2 bad about the Angels. Is there some sort of time table with them that would say either 1. these arent spawning they might be the same sex, or 2. they are opposite but just arent into it..

I'm not 100%, as I've never had angels personally, but if they haven't shown indication of spawning behaviour by about a year I think that is fairly unusual if they are paired. Just based on other things that I have read. I've had some friends who had a spawn at round 6 or so months after purchasing baby fish, so as early as then. If it hasn't happened by a year something is up. With fish it isn't necessarily age that determines spawning it is also size.

Keep in mind the chances of randomly getting one of each when just selecting two fish from a group isn't too great.
