HELP WITH TANK STOCK!!!!

here's my 25cents - 6 med Discus (mix), 2 sm angels, 6 cards, 6 glo-lites, 6 sm/med albino corys (or a mix of corys), 1ea. med. albino/regular algae eaters

That sounds like a lot of bio load. plus discus around my area are expensive like 50 dollars minimum per discus. and I have to think of long term as how bug they get. Once the tank is set up, it is not going to change for years.

The fact that you're using standard flourescent doesn't mean you can or can't have plants. It comes down to how MUCH in this case. If you add on a couple extra strip lights, you could easily grow some amazon swords, vals and javafern which would all be as low maintenance as you can get (a couple root tabs for the sword), and beautiful.

for fish, I love the idea of angels, dojos, cories and a school of diamond tetras. I woudl stare at that fish tank for a long time :-)

I'd stock angels, bolivian rams, corys, tetras, and a couple plecos. Sand substrate is not a problem nor is the light. Vals will grow taller with more light. My vals stay 3-4 inches in a 55 with a 40 watt bulb and much taller in the 80 watt tank. The onion bulb is a good idea and should grow to the top with 40 watts. Java fern also stays small in 40 watt tanks. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Remember this is in a coffee shop, not a home. Not much time for pruning, maintainence, water changes, ect. So it must be as simple as possible.

I do like the idea of an Oranda, but all customer have seen goldfish. A tank with lots of color (African Chiclids) and a lot of fish to boot would look great. Plus all that would be needed are cheap lights and water changes.

If you go with the plants mentioned above, no pruning needed...at all. Also, having a few live plants helps make the setup a little lower maintenace in that water quality is better.

so here is what i am thinking about stocking. 1 pleco, 6 angel fish, 2 dojo loaches and depending on the light i would liek to stick with jungle val. I think i an going to try to use pool sand. what do you guys think? if someone has an angel tank can you please post a pic so can see how it looks. How do you guys think i should decorate it?
