Hey guys........my wisteria is starting to halfway turn brown on a few of my plants, and shed a few leaves towards the bottom. Others though, look full and healthy. Is this normal after adding them to a new tank? It's a 55 gallon with a 130 watt CFL.

I cut the top off one and replanted it, and cut one of the "side shoots" that had roots and replanted it. Is this the proper way to make it take over a tank? Thanks!

Anyone? It's just a few of the leaves at the very end that are turning a little brown. I went and bought some new platys and my LFS had a lot of Wisteria, so I bought 2 new plants of it. It is very tall and very bushy, just the way I want it to be. The man at my LFS told me to just plant it and let it go. He has a lot of 10 gallon tanks with it growing, and it is just beautiful.

He also told me next time I come, to bring a sample of my water and he would test the ph levels. He said this could be a reason as to why it's shedding some leaves or turning brown. Anyone have any thoughts or comments?

My CFL has the 6700k bulbs. It's the single strip Coralife 48". Not doing any CO2.

Well, the browning is just more towards the end of most of the leaves. Also, the plants I took away from the bundle are getting really leggy looking and don't have many leaves on them anymore. The ones in the bundles still have leaves, but just aren't looking too good.

The leaves and tops I cut/replanted are rooting, but aren't looking that great either. They aren't losing any leaves however. They just aren't very "full" looking if you know what I mean.

The plants I bought today are VERY tall and VERY bushy. I'd like to purcahse a lot of this Wisteria at my LFS because all they have is like this, tall and bushy like I want. I don't even think I want another plant other than Wistieria and Ancahris. However, I don't want to keep buying if it's not going to do good. Is 2.36 WPG not enough for Wisteria, or would something else be wrong?

i have my wisteria in a 55g hex. with only .6 watts per gallon. not alot at all.

and my plants (2) are the best growers. better than the anacharis, java moss, money wort, horn wort, fox tail, vals.

its close actually between the wisteria and the foxtail.

i only dose half the recommened dose of florapride every other week and do 50% WC every sun.

im not sure about the brown. but you can use shoots or tops with the rooted middle section, and ive noticed mine will drop leaves only 1 each or week or something and they will float up top and the roots will hang down. ive planted those too.

Pics aren't the greatest, sorry!

The first 2 pictures are of the Wisteria that isn't doing great.

The 3rd is the new Wisteria I got from my LFS that is tall and bushy like I want.

Last 2 pictures are of the left and right sides of the tank. You'll notice some of the really small toppings I cut towards the front of the tank. They are starting root after just a few days.

Thanks. It's just a tree root that I picked up from Petsmart. It was about $20 or so. I think I'm about to go get my water tested at my LFS, get some more Wisteria, and a couple more platys. I got 4 guppies, and I'm down to 2. I think either my LFS's guppies are bad, or I just don't do well with them. Platys are fine though!

Just got back from my LFS. I took my 5" Common Pleco back, and got 2 Platys and 3 more large bundles of Wisteria.

We tested my water, and the guy told me everything was at perfectly good levels. So, hopefully my Wisteria will start growing like mad now!
