**HELP yeast in my aquarium!!!!!!**

thanks for all the advice and help everyone, it appears to be ok now, some fish are now flicking themselves against rocks and sand but hopefully withsome stresscoat and a few more days they might be ok.

the ammount that went into the water was a lot!! there was so much in the water i could not see any fish in there!! thats how bad it was. but the fact i managed to do such a large water change so soon after it happened is i think what saved them.

but once again thanks for all the replies and help it was very much apriciated!!

Yeast is not toxic at all in direct terms. It is not poisonous to the fish or to any aquatic fauna.

However, the yeast is an bacterial organism and will have a quicker metabolic rate than your fish and animals, therefore competing for oxygen that is in your tank. Yeast, however, is also sensitive to high temperatures, like all other proteins.

Therefore, you have two options. The first is to add extra oxygen to your tank to supplement the fishs' intake. Wait it out, and the yeast will outcompete itself after a few days-weeks.

The second option is to increase the temperature in your tank, therefore decomposing the yeast protein.

Up to you.

I had the same problem

Hmm I had the same problem. If anything my fish look healthier and so do the plants.. Course I do have a filter that pumps the water through twice an hour so it cleared in about 2 hrs..
