HELP!!!

this accidently happened to me one foggy morning as I was feeding my old betta... I had accidently poured a packet of sugar in the tank instead of my coffee..... it was a bad morning but nothing really did happen. I changed 50% of the water and then 2 days later changed another 50%. The fish lived for another 2 years after that so I would say it was not such a panicking situation.

That is good to hear DD. I guess whenever something that shouldn't go into a tank goes in, panic happens! My darling husband asked me "So you think that fish will get a sugar rush and start swimming really fast everywhere?" I wanted to smack him. Everything seems ok in the tank today, so I can sit back and smile........In a couple of months I will probably think the whole episode was funny.

hum, some how i missed this!

I will sometimes add honey (not sugar, but still a sugar) to some of my homemade foods for snails that are injured or not eating well. The worst that ever happens is a cloudy tank. So i would say (to late mind you) that its not alot to be worried about. I understand how tricky it is with kids! Hope everything remains stalbe for you, as I suspect it will.

He is acting normal.....for him. Wrapping around the filter intake until his tail gets sucked in then swimming off. Swimming up into the filter outtake and laying up there. Laying on top of his anubias petite. Blowing his bubble nest. So I guess all is well.

Well, I woke up this morning and the bacterial bloom has begun! Any pointers to make it go away quicker? Or do I just have to wait it out? I already did another 50% water change this morning. Water params are normal Am 0, Ni 0, Na 5-10. Tye-Dye the Betta is doing just fine and as far as I can tell so are the red ramshorns. All plants seem happy too.

i was hoping youd avoid that, but all you can do is continue with your water changes and wait it out
