I have a small tank with 2 fantails in , and the tank has a light and a filter , but when i touched the water the other day it felt warm , i no for a fact its the light thats making it warm , but they hav been in it for a week now , but do you think i have anytink to worry about ?

Also, what size is the tank? I don't want to preach, but keeping goldfish in small tanks is generally a bad idea. Goldfish get quite large and produce a lot of waste, and need quite a bit of space. Keeping them in small tanks will stunt their growth and can lead to illness and shortened life spans.

Lol, that is sort of scary, but it can depend on a few things.
Maybe your light is way to close to your tank, or maybe your tank is really small, from experience, goldfish can adapt well so i wouldn't worry about it.

you only have to worry if the light is raising the temp when it is on, and then the temp falls several degrees (more than 3-4, i suppose) during the night. it depends a lot on what you are using, if you have incandescent (regular) light bulbs, you may want to switch to a hood that uses flourescent ones, which are quite a bit cooler.
Or buy the mini spiral fluorescents to replace the incandescents (if that is what you have); cheaper than a new hood.
so in inches it's 16x10x12. .. approx. an 8 gal tank, less with the gravel and decor. invest in more appropriate fish as well as cooler lighting. those goldies won't be happy or healthy in there. you already see with the heat issue how easy it is for the water conditions to change quickly, the same goes for the fish waste. in a larger tank it has more water to diffuse through, but a small tank like that only lets it build up.
