Help!

I figured this is the best place for my problem.

So my tank has been up fo about two and a half months, I had two percs, a yellow tang, and an atlantic blue tang for fish. a handful of snails and hermit crabs along with a emerald crab for inverts. They were all getting along fine and looking great. Then yesterday i found my atlantic blue dead, not even twitching, i took water into the store and had them test it they said nothing was wrong, must have been overstressed during shipping or something. SO this morning i wake up and both my clown are dead now not just one of them, what the heck is going on? I just lost 100 bucks in two nights, this must stop! I dont have many fish left.

Ohh yea for a tank i am runing a 55 Galon with overflow to a sump, tank is at about 80 degrees and the fish store says all the water is fine.

Make sure you find out what exactly the store is testing for? There are so many things that can cause water problems (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, copper, phosphates, etc...)

are you sure your tank was cycled before adding everything?? Did you add everything at once?

No I added the fish over an extended time, i also used stability if you know what that is. The store tested for amonia, nitrates, nitrites, phospate, alkalinity, salinity. I think that was it. I have my last fish in a QT now and am trying some Rid Ick on him as i did notice some stuff that looks like Ick. Hopefully its not to late for my last good fish. I have also talked to just about every reputable fish store around and none of them have any suggestions better than sometimes they just die, but that was also before i lost the clown too.

not really sure what to tell you. Its weird that both clowns died. This is probably a long shot but have you seen any parasites at night?? I actually had some crianolid isopods that would attach themselves to fish at night but I never saw them during the day. I suppose that if the isopod numbers are high enough they would take down fish at night. Again, this is a long shot but it COULD happen. Take a light (preferably a red light) and look around the tank at night. Mine looked like white pill bugs with huge black eyes. I was told that if you buy some rock from florida during certain times of the year there is an increased risk of them hitch hiking.

Again, this is probably not the case but its worth a look. If you find you have some let me know and I will tell you how I got rid of them.

Hope you dont' find any. But it would be nice to have a possible suspect in the deaths.

well so far the yellow tang is doing ok, not great he could hardly eat today when i fed him, but he did eat, he seemed too weak to inhale the food, but i will have to watch him and see what happens
