Hemianthus callichtroides (HC) high Gh & KH ?

I'm growing Hemianthus callichtroides (HC) but progress is slower than I was expecting.
I am aware of information regarding light, Co2, fertilisation etc...
& have experimented with changing various parameters.
My water has a GH of 11.2 degrees & KH is 7.84 and thats after mixing 50% tap & RO water!
I am wondering if the water is just too hard.
Does anyone else grow lush Hemianthus callichtroides (HC) with such hard water?
My substrate is eco complete, the Hemianthus callichtroides (HC) doesn'tseem to root well, when it does grow it tends to put itself free...

i think a smaller gravel would be better with hc. i never had any luck growing it my self. dont remember ever reading that it needs soft water so i dont know.

hc is slow.
it could be coming up due to many many factors.
