so, i did my water tests this afternoon, and for some reason i walked off and left the tubes sitting there with the water and solution in them. when i emptied them out tonight, i found that the tube for the nitrate test... has turned red!!! *facepalm* it doesn't seem to be anything that i can scrub off. will this mess with my test results if i use it, or should i throw it out? i'm so stupid lol

it was glass! it's the API master kit lol
good thing i have extra tubes, i guess lol

Huh, I've left solution in the tubes (API glass also) for up to a day, and it never stained. And I've got high nitrates (like over 80 range O_o) I personally wouldn't trust it for future results. Would probably make it hard to be sure which color it actually is, even if it did return accurate results.

like bazil, i've forgotten to rinse out the test tubes too (once for 3 days........eeep), and they've never stained on me (ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate tests). i just rinse them out under the tap with the water just in between warm and hot.

maybe use a pipecleaner to scrub it off? but then again, any residue may give you false readings the next time you go to use that tube for testing. might be better to just toss that one and use your spares.
