Hermit crab behavior

I have blue legs, red legs, and a few other types in my tank. Every so often I will find them dog piled all on top of each other. I thought that maybe they were fighting over a dead snail, but after they finally spread out again there is no bare shell left behind. Has anyone experienced this?

Yes actually i see it a lot. They dont seem to hurt each other. Maybe they just like to ride each others coattails. HEHE!

Mine have done this as well, i dont have a clue what they are doing, maybe they dont either

usually its a feeding frenzy (doesnt have to be a snail just any food). sometimes they just hang out together or steal shells from each other. is it near feeding time when u see it?

They have done this during feeding time, but that isn't the only time.

humm just what they do i guess at least untill someone knows or i get my phd some 4-6 years from now lol
