Hermit crabs dropping like flies

My tank has been set up for almost 5 months now.

it's a 20 gallon tall. 18 pounds of live rock, 2 clownfish, 1 brittle star, 15 various snails, 10 various hermit crabs.

The water parameters are fine, and so is everything else in the tank, but my hermit crabs keep turning up dead!?!?!! I originally lost 2 snails at the beginning of it all, but it's been months now since any problems, and 3 hermit crabs in 2 days.....

Any advice?

Did you put any transition shell in the tank.I had the same problem till I went to the craft store and got a mixed bag of shells for 2 bucks.Give this a try. Hope it helps

I did this too right after I put in the hermits ,I could only find "dyed" shells but they are color fast , and the crabs just love them . Now I have pink ,green ,lavender ect. hermits walking around my tank.
