Heros sp. 'Rotkeil' (Redhead)

So get some South Americans!! They have some of the most awesome pikes and geos that you'll ever see! Not to mention the severums in this thread and other oddities like Acaricthys, Biotodoma and Retroculus. While a Red Tiger Motoguense can be nice, a gorgeous pair of Flame Pikes would be spectacular!!

In any case, don't sell yourself short because you are dead set on CA...

The real Heros severus are mouthbrooders, not the fish commonly sold as "Severum".

I do have one SA fish now, a green terror. But I pretty much decided on a pair of sajica for my 20gal tank. Once I get my 75gal in the fall, I'll have an open 55 that I want to try and breed nicaraguense in. I know there are a lot of interesting SA fish, but just by the luck of the draw, the fish I want to try next are centrals.

I do know how you feel. It always seems what I want I can't find or have. My tap water is basically liquid rock. For years I kept Africans and CA's because SA's just didn't thrive in my water. Recently I picked up an RO unit and have gone nutso with SA's lately. Sooner or later I'll come full circle and end up with Afriggins again...

Good luck on those sajica!! :)
