Well i have hets now. Unfortunately, like with most new fish i get, they seem to be diseased somehow.

When i first got them, the largest female was wounded and lost her dorsal fin to fin rot. It appears to be regrowing now.

in the last week, i have noticed at least 2 or 3 of the fish flashing (big female, a distinctivly marked male, and at least one of the smaller non-descript fish. Also,

I saw one apparently near death with other fish picking at it, but it turns out they were male and the sick one was female. What bothered me is she was swimming with loss of attitude, after the males left her alone she seemed to be fine. Swimming and feeding as normal.

Today the large female is losing her color with only a faint horizontal stripe left, most of the body is yellowish green (the color in the morning when light comes on).

I have decided to treat for external parasites with quickcure. If i can make them eat this gel stuff i have, then i will treat for internal parasites also. Thre are no spots or sores other than already discussed. Gills MIGHT be a bit red, but that might only be an odd reflection. 1/4" fish gills are tiny. :)

QT is out of the question because there are about 10-15 identical fish (about 4-5 i can recognize) that immediately school and hide when anything enters the tank. It turns out to be very effective survival technique from the dreaded net.

Water stats are not available until at least Sunday. New job, long drive, long meetings, etc. By typing this post, i am resigning myself into sleeping through most of the first one. The tank is cycled and temp is around 74-76. Its heavily planted 10g. I have just about every size het from 1/8" to 1/2".

Other than some water changes and quickcure, is there anything else i should do?
