HEY EVERYONE I WAS JUST WONDERING IF A BETTA FISH IS A GOOD FISH FOR BEGGINERS... AND WHAT FISH WOULD BE OK TO GO WITH A BETTA FISH?:fairy:

its a 5 gallon tank...

that is a great sized tank for a betta...you won't be able to fit many other fishy friends though. You could, however, get something like an apple snail which are really fun to watch and a safe tank mate.

ive never heard of an apply snail before, are they a bigger snail?

they are a big snail...you can see images at www.applesnail.net. I have a couple of them and have become very attached. They come in all colors ranging from blue, magenta, ivory, striped....and on and on. A member here (dakotagirl i think) has some super beautifully colored snails. She has a posting in the classifieds section. Some other names for apple snails are brig snail or mystery snail.

wow! they sound beautiful!!!!! can you get them at any pet store that sells fresh water fish? and whats a price range on them?

you can usually get them at most of the chain stores and often and smaller shops as well although you commonly see the ivory, blue, and striped varieties the most and not the exotic colors you could get through a breeder. They cost anywhere from $2-6 around here depending on size.

I would forgo the petstore and PM Dakotagirl AKA Barb, she has som absolutly gorgous snails. sure you pay more but it would be well worth it.
