Hey everyone, im quite new to the fish community but I now have a 29 gallon tank with 2 guppies, 7 neon tetras(currently infected with ich as I first noticed this morning, going to get that fixed soon) 2 bala sharks, one baby red tailed shark, and 2 other unknown species(look like flat goldfish with black fins). Anyways, my questions are, will the Itch desease spread to the other fish?(since only the Neons have it)And is it an easy thing to fix? Feeding: I want to get a good diet for my fish, what are some good foods that will sink to the bottom so that my bala sharks and red tailed shark can eat, and whats a good one for my neons and guppies to eat since they're mid/top swimmers?Whats a good way to keep stress off my fish? Well thats all i have for now, i cant wait for my tank to grow and to get into this forum community :)

hey there

to answer one of your questions, yes ich may spread to your other fish.
there is a part of the "ich's" life cycle (they are parasites) where they become free swimming and they look for a host to attach to..

as to the medication part i don't know much about this so i guess ull just have to wait for the reply of others who are knowledgeable on this..

gud luk with ur fishies :dive2:

Just one thing to note, the 29 gallon tank is too small for both the Bala Sharks and the rtbs. Balas need at least around 150 gallons and Red-Tailed black sharks need around 55 gallons to work well in a community.

Balas and red tails will both like some live/frozen foods such as brine shrimp or blood worms. They are omnivorous, so algae wafers or lettuce will be good too. They are too big for that tank, so only feed them this while you are saving for a bigger tank, or till you can find a petstore that will take them on a trade. You should go to the species profiles on this site, or www.planetcatfish.com to find suitablee bottomfeeders for your tank. Is the "flat fish" flat horizontally or vertically? If it is a goldie, it has different requirements(temp. for one)than tropical fish.

I agree the RTBS and the bala's are no match for that size of tank. Also, from personal experience, I wouldn't even keep them in the same tank at all, my RTBS pestered the heck out of the bala's.
