Just wanted to drop a message here and introduce myself.. My name's Bex, and I'm a graduate student here at Michigan State. I'm a huge animal-lover, which extends from fish to reptiles to marsupials and even a handful of foster pets!
I first got into aquaria when I was hired at Preuss Pets (then known as Preuss Animal House), a very freakin' awesome family-owned pet store. At the time, I thought the fish room was cool, but probably the least-interesting part of the store.. I mean, there were huge macaws, beautiful dart frogs, fluffy chinchillas... why would anyone want a fish?! :silly:
Buuuut I was soon hooked. I'm really into natural, biotope-style setups. I thoroughly enjoy planted aquariums. I used to be a big cichlid person, but then I got into the oddities and rarer fish - ctenopomas, bichirs, rare plecos and so on.
I stopped working at Preuss about 6 months ago (had to go work in my career field, criminal justice!) and gave up on aquaria, because my apartment is tiny and the tanks were just overrunning the place. But now I miss them all and want to get back into it, specifically paladarium-type things like mangrove setups for mudskippers.
Okay, that was really long-winded and I apologize! Anyway, look for me around here, soaking up tank ideas and maybe offering some advice here and there.
