ok i went shopping over the weekend to some local pet shops and petsmart.com, this is what i bought:

(1)Emperor Power Filter 400B
(1)Magnum Canister Filter 220gph
(1)25' python gravel vaccum

i ordered the emperor power filter from petsmart.com because it is cheaper than the petshops price.

i have the 55gal all set up with filters and pumps running, now im trying to do the "cycle".

Be sure and check out www.bigalsonline.com. They are really cheap and the shipping is reasonable. They have pretty much anything you need for a large tank set-up.

55gal is just nice. it'll take quite a long time to reach even 12".

mine's in a 67gal tank. look at the pics.
