Hi every one. I've had two small aquariums for over 15 years now. One exclusively goldfish and another tropical. I've returned to my home town after 5 years and now I have replaced the two by a single 70 gal aquarium.

With this one I have done everything that should not be done! I have have waited only 4 days before adding fish! the gravel I've used already has bacteria which has to be activated by adding water. I know I should have waited for a few weeks but I was too impatient.

I've also put in the wrong mix of fish. I've got 4 angels, 4 shark-like cat fish (in my country we actually call it shark!), 6 small platys, 2 sub adult molly, one algae eater, 2 adult 6" long gold fish and.. 3 baby osawana! I already had an adult silver dollar. I know these fish should not be mixed but their respective sizes have persuaded me to put them together... at least for the time being. Within the first week, I've had to give the silver dollar to a friend because it was causing a lot of trouble to everybody else. Every night, 1 osawana dies until 1 was left. 4 weeks on, everybody left seems to live in peace with each other. I know I will have to separate them soon and I intend to buy a larger aquarium early next year for the osawana. I'm watching the progress. I spend hours everyday just watching the aquarium. The mollys start nibbling at the tail of the gold fish at times but I think I'll swap them for something else.

It seems I've suddenly forgotten everything i knew and I'm a kid again.
