Since I've already posted in a couple of places I thought I'd introduce myself- I am a 38 y.o. nursing student in VA.
I'm just getting back into the hobby after a 10 yr hiatus. In the past I had a 20 long w/ tropicals- tetras etc then upgraded to 30 long. My tropical setup was red serpae, black skirts, ONE red-tail black shark, snails, and one local caught crawdad (yes, I know that was probably not the best thing to do! but he was so cool!)
When I got married & moved I sold all my fish/ inverts to a friend. I took the 30g tank with me and did a cichlid setup. They were "asst african cichlids" from walmart. They were teeny @ first- then next thing I knew 2 mbuna were breeding! I had to clear out the tank but for the breeding pair- again- the kindness of friends. Raising those babies was so cool. After my (now EX)husband told me the "sound of running water was driving him crazy" in the interest of harmony I sold my setup. WAH!
So after divorcing and moving into a family-owned house while I finish nursing school- I'm back into aquarium keeping. You just can't get it out of your system!
LOL- 4 tanks now- but small.
- 2 of those 3 gal bowfronts w/ one betta apiece (1 crown tail, 1 veil tail) / UGFs (one has a baby hitchhiker snail I'm interested to see what that will turn into)
- 1 10gal w/ 6 red serpae and 1 mystery snail / 20 gal rated HOB power filter
- 20 high w/ 1 dwarf gourami, 5 black skirts, & 6 cories / overstocked- but I'm double filtering w/ UGF & HOB power filter rated for 30 gal
When I finish school I want a GI-NORMUS planted tank! Plastic plants must GO!
Also- i'm interested in keeping shrimp in a planted tank but am still researching what that requires--- shrimp are new to me!
