We have had a couple of fish for over a year......one koi and one goldfish in a 10 gal tank. We got a 55gal tank recently(about 4 weeks ago). Made the transfer of Ralph (Koi) & Mello (goldfish-not sure what type) and we picked up one more Koi I believe that's what he is....Crackhead.....the three of them did well with the changes to a new tank and all get along fabulously! Last week I fell in love with a Lionhead(I believe after reading up on goldfish types) We named him P. Willie, I work with special needs kids and there is a syndrome called Prater Willie syndrome........they cannot stop eating and they have a chubby look to their faces......anyhow first thing I thought of when I looked at this guy! LOL Willie is my favorite of them all..........he has adjusted well to our tank and his tankmates.
We were told that to help with algae we could introduce a (sucker fish?) not sure what they are called, kinda flat looking and they cling to the walls or surfaces and eat the yuckies, after 4 weeks of starting our 55 gal tank. So this week we added "Doc" to help with cleanup.......everyone seems content!
Since the Koi fishies will grow large hubby doesn't want anymore fishkids. Now that I have my lionhead I think I'm satisfied! LOL
I've posted pictures of the tank as well as my fishkids for you all to look at. If anyone could tell me what Mello is....I would assume a Common? if the name gives an indication of what the type of Goldfish is. LOL
thanks!
