Hi everybody,
Fishtankfishy from Sweden greeting all phurrum members from rainy west region.
A bit in a soup and need all possible help.
Got a new tank 60*30*30 (60 like, 20 Galons for US folks.)
Read up extensively on net and set up tank.
pH 8.0
kH 5.0
Did not do ammonia test.
After 1 week or so, got 4 fishes this monday (2 days back) (2 platys and 2 dalmetian mollys male/female pairs).
Yesterday night, found one female molly lying upside down. Not dead but no way active.
What is going on?
Tried googling and common cause might be VERY dangerous high ammonia levels. Have to buy a test kit today later in evening and perhaps shall do water change too.
Also heard from local pet shop that i must add non iodine salt to water.
If so, how much??
Sorry for nagging from day one and intro post itself.
The upside down molly made me so sad.
I have peat moss in a filter bag under gravel for lowering pH as I thought 8.0 is way too high. It seems to remain constant. Is there any other decent way to deal with pH? read all about C02 DIY systems etc.Not sure as beginer shall play with such stuff.
ANy input, mini/micro/macro suggestion, tips, nuggets of wisdom is greatly appreciated.
Forever yours,
Confused fishtank from sweden.
