Your shubunkin is generally classified along with other pond variety, single-tail goldfish, such as comets, commons, watonais, and wakins. The red cap (oranda) is more of a "fancy" double tailed variety with a very different body form. There are some minor care aspects that differ between the two, particularly in terms of dietary considerations based on the orandas compressed abdominal cavity, tank space and water volume needs, and ideal temperature range. That being said, it is possible to keep these two fish together and still accommodate their individual requirements at the same time.
