Hi All!

I recently got a 13 X 17 X 100 CM fishtank from a cousin, and proceeded to fill it. I conditioned the water, waited a few days, and then introduced 3 small goldfish, two guppies, and a few little neon-striped (tetra's?)

I keep the tank at 24.5 degress celcius which I was told is OK for both the goldfish and the tropicals. I feed them a small pinch of flakes in the morning and in the evening. I have a large filter system, an airpump to help oxygenate the water.

So far it has been great fun - I am now changing the water for the first time. I am looking forward to availing myself of your experience as this is all very new for me!

My goldfish seem to have lost interest in exploring everything - I hope this is not a sign if impending trouble! I will change the water now to see if that helps.

Is this your first Aquarium?

Can I offer a few pointers to start?

1. Do small water changes where you remove 25-50% of the aquarium water and replace the removed amount with conditioned water.

2. It will could take several months for an aquarium to "establish", small water changes will help ease the fishes stress during this break-in period.
Perform those W/C's once or twice a week, and never change all of it at once!

Im sure you knew this, but those are a few pointers.

I'd be willing to bet others will chime in a few good starting points/tips!
