hey there Joel, just wanted to be the first to welcome you to Aquaria Central....Dont worry about the Guppies, we shall have you turning to the dark side and marine fish in no time at all......he he he he...only joking mate...Nice to have you onboard...

Welcome to AC young man 
As for the guppies, we all started from some point in the hobby for as myself, it was when I was 7 and at some fair grounds that I had won a goldfish in a bowl back in 1945 which was resposible for it giving me the idea in having me a tank before the end of that year.
The key here for you to become forever as successful is to first research and ask as many questions as you like and it be best for you to keep notes on all that your interested in.
Before you setup any new tank, first select the fish that you would want and then figure what size tank would best be suited by asking the other members here at AC.
In anything that you might do in this hobby, the two main best ideas be is to be very patient and :read: Never be in a all fire hurry.
