I've Decided to turn my Unused 75Gal tank into a marine tank  I have a question about a filter I would like to use instead of a Wet/dry setup. I have a pennplax cascade 1000 on my freshwater and I like how it works so what I would like to do is buy another for the marine tank, It's a canister filter. Smart Idea or should I just spring for the wet/dry setup (80.00 more).

It's a canister filter

Might wanna consider another way, typically, Canister Filters have a negative effect on the marine environment, producing unwanted quantities of Nitrates and Phosphates, then again maybe you don't.

you suggest Wet/dry?

I would sugest a sump with a filter... kinda like the wet/dry, without the dry part.

what he said.

ok, I will look into all this

Yeah do what he said, i am running a cannister with bleached corals inside for the media, i am not having any problems as far as water is concerned, 0 nitrite/nitrate, and no phosphate. Also i am running a surface skimmer attachment on it, but i will be buying either a remora or a red-sea prizm sometime in the future, a protein skimmer will be needed aswell, it is just annoying without one.

Also for FOWLER you are aiming at 20 x turnover, reef anywhere between 30 and 60 turnover.

I don't know much about how the remora works, but I would stay away from the prizm. I had one, and you couldn't pay me enough to use another one. I got rid of mine after about 3 months and bought a Coralife Super Skimmer. I am more than happy with my Super Skimmer. Great skimmer for the money.
