High Ammonia.. Should I......

"Red Sea" Ammonia test kit... Question about the water change.. I am puting the dechlorinator in the water before it goes into the tank.. Is that right. Ok 50% WC well see how it looks in a few hours

It's a powder/liquid kit... Guess I will get the other kit this weekend... THanks a LOT guys. Oh by the way My Marineland submersible heater is now covered by gravel.. Thats ok right?
 
You are right. The dechlorinator goes in before you add the water to the tank if you want to stay on the safe side. I do not allow anything to get between my heater and the water. I am afraid the heat transfer would not be good enough and I could get localized hot spots on the heater case that could damage it. Maybe I'm just too paranoid but my heaters last forever. (Paranoids have enemies too you know. lol)
