I'm using High outputs that produces a maxium of 110 watts. How limited am I to keeping certain corals and which corals would do best under that light?

And are CP's stronger then HO?

No matter what kind of lights you get, you can be limited in what stock you can support. CF tend to allow your to fit more high watt bulbs into a smaller space than with VHO, which can provide more light than the same # of HO bulbs., so you can have more lighting in the same limited space with CF.

However, what size tank you have what fish are in there, ect will make a difference as well.

so i'm starting up a reef..

What corals would you recommend Orion to start out with? I am runnning a 55g. Its been going almost a month. I have rough 37lbs of LR with a 3 in DSB. I will be adding more rock soon.

I have currently a sm maroon clown in with a orchid dottyback, 3 flame scallops, cleaner shrimp(1) and button polyps and Capnella Sp.

Lvls are all good plus low phosphates and a 330 calcium lvl.

Got a skimmer on and will be hooking up a 350 magnum just o be safe for extra filtration.

So if my lights produce 110 watts, what coral can go in my tank?

Most corals will be fine in your tank. I'd avoid trying clams, but mushrooms, button polyps, sand polyps, gorgonians, cabbage corals, and colts should do fine. You'll need to make sure your feeding enough for the filter feeders, but otherwise you're okay. The tank depth is sometimes a concern, but I think the 55's are okay. Just make sure you have plenty of surface agitation (or the skimmer--does the same thing).

I wouldn't add any corals until you've finished adding live rock, and the tank has matured for a few months--6 is the minimum I recommend. Most inverts are sensitive to fluctuations in water quality and salinity, so once that's stable and easily maintained, you should be okay to add some more inverts.
