high ph

i think it may be the peat gravel i got form home depot, i washed it out and sprayed it down pretty good, now its bee in the tank bout a week and the water seems really clear.

well the ph of the tank is at like 8.0 and i fill it with water from the tap thats at like7.0

i hear fish can adapt to different ph's somewhat easily, but i also plan on having plants, will this be a problem?

None at all. 8.0 isn't that high really. Probably the natural pH of the water once the CO2 has gassed off.

its down to like 7.3 or so in the tank
