I contacted the helpful people at Hikari concerning my very picky
young Red Bay Snook. Anyway, they suggested that perhaps their Cichlid Complete would be the best choice. So, I will try that and see what happens. Hikari foods have always been well-accepted by my cichlids.

Any experience with this food, and with picky fish in general?

If the worse come to the worse, I will try the suggestions made to me earlier to withold food for a few days and re-introduce the pellets/sticks. I have only had one other fish during my years of fish keeping that I could not get to eat prepared foods, a pair of Leaf Fish.

My fish love hikari pellets, of course they also love tetra cichlid stix, hikari carnivore pellets, omega one pellets, spirulina pellets, hikari gold pellets........
sorry I couldn't be of more help but I have had good luck with a week of starvation. When you open the lid and they swim to meet you its all over. Try ghost shrimp every four days just for piece of mind.

Fasting really isn't as bad as you think it is cloud. Fish in the wild may go weeks without a bit of food. Its actually good for there digestive tract to go without food for a day or so. I fast all my fish on sunday. Just so there is a day to get everything cleaned out. Usually fasting is about the best thing to re-train a carnivores feeding habits. Any fish for that matter.

I agree with Optix over the fasting thing. My fish aren't fed Saturdays. On the original topic, I feed my fish Hikari all the time. They love it, and I use just about all of their products. That or Ocean Nutrition is really all that my fish are fed.

Fasting

Fasting it is, then. I'll wait until the food from Hikari arrives though. I've been doing a search on this Cichlid Complete and all the comments I've seen were very positive.

the cichlid complete is a good food, i have never had any problems with it. i feed it to all my blue acaras and sumtimes the pacus will eat it too if they can see it, lol. but yea its a good food and i recommend it.
