Guys i read the thread :Live Rock eating fish. I saw a creature coming out of my LR couple weeks ago, Its pretty shy so i could only see its claws, it was greyish- black. Now could this be a young mantis shrimp? if not what else can it be. sorry for the little info. oh its also frightened by any movement.

pics would help, however, the coloring sounds like a mantis shrimp. Do you ever hear any clicking sounds at night mostly in the tank? If so thats a big tip. Try shutting the lights off and getting a red lensed flashlight. Fish cant see the color red so this is why Red is best.

If you can catch him I would be more than happy to pay shipping and give him a home if you don't have a place for him!!

well as i said its pretty shy, i only spotted it per chance. havent seen it for a while though. i'll try the red light method, thanks. It lives in the rock and from the size of the holes in the rock it cant be too big though. i will try to spot it and let you guys in on more detail. thanks for the tips.:) Jojo, are mantis shrimps scarce?

Not really but most people flush them.
