Pond snails CAN eat plants once they get to be about 1/4" or larger.

Actually they just eat the dead and dying parts of plants.

Pond snails CAN eat plants once they get to be about 1/4" or larger.

This is quite rare. I have only once in my 2 decades of fishkeeping (pond snails in pretty much every tank except the goldfish and oscars) seen pond snails/MTS eating live plants, regardless of their size.
