ok well the stand(sturdy oak table/cabinet) i had my 55 on, i had 5 people on the stand shifting around and it stayed stable and didnt even rock. well now i notice a slight depression in the middle of the top, so the tank isnt touching all around the rim.

well this obviously cant stay like this, i havent done anything yet but im considering building a nice diy stand, im not great at woodworking but i have some skill. Anyone have any idea or link to Diy on a nice stand design. I figure i can have the wood cut at H.D. or somewhere, and just assemble it myself.

You should really sue some wood glue. But other than that that site looks good. When you go to get your wood I would try to find some wood that’s mostly free of knots. I wouldn’t use pine. And when you get your ply wood get something with a good finish grade, this will help you when you go to finish it off and make it look good.

I might use oak, more expensive but should be worth it, im probably gonna use some finsh to waterproof it not sure.

anyways more problems -_-

i decided to test my 29 again(month after set up) to see if any space had formed under the rim, well go figure theres space under the middle, enough to get a piece of paper under. what really pisses me off is that its a aquarium stand.. and the top is 3/4 plywood, with finish, no idea how this space formed, the stand is cheap but still, there are supports around the bottem of the plywood.

i might just put a piece of foam under the 29, but what kind should i use? and how should i trim it so it looks decent?

I think people like to use styrofoam. Try painting it black with spray paint prior to putting it in place. This will disguise it well.

Even easier than spray-painting (which depending on the propellants and solvents can dissolve styro) is to wrap a band of 2" plastic tape around the edges - coordinate w/the tank rim and it will be all but invisible.

I used a piece of cardboard under my tanks when I put them on stands and if the top of the stand isn't solid I cut out under it so I can look up under the tank to search for burrowers ie kulhi's. I have seen foam like the packaging or insulation foam.

yes that should work. you can cut it after the tank is placed on top of it and it should not show.
