Exactly what would happen if i ordered 15 lbs of LR fully cured. Then when I get it I put it in my 29 gallon. It hasnt started to cycle and has 15 lbs of live rock and 1 damsel. Would ammonia spike? I have no clue:confused: :help:

 Oh and also whats the difference between base rock and live rock?
Thanks for replies!:)

Is 15$/lb too much for live rock. I got it from my LFS and it was cultured and ready to put in my tank. They said they get it from the south. How much did you guys pay for your LR, not online?

yes 15/lb is to much my old work charged $4.49-$9.99/ lb depending on the grade of rock. it shouldnt spike to much because it was curred already but it will a bit and your uncured rock will for sure. base rock is dead(no living organisms what so ever not in water) and curred or anything else called live has animals on it. sometimes low grade live rock is called base rock though.

would online LR be more expensive? Because the shipping costs. I live in the Yukon and thats pretty far away from everywhere.

im not sure...ud have to check it out but im guessing it will be a bit lower. i live in a place with 3 local aquariums stores and about a dozen whole sale places just 2 hrs away in La so i dont use online for live things unless its something hard to get. check these guys out their rock is usually very nice though

I'm pretty sure liveaquaria only ships within the US.

Do you have any other LFS nearby? You can always get base rock and put that in your tank. Eventually the live rock will 'seed' the base rock with all of the critters and your base rock will 'turn' to live rock.

Hope I didn't confuse you there.
