if i use a emperor 400 hob power filter should i get rid of the bio wheels and spray bars ? i am planning on low light plants and angel fish in a 55 gal. i have read somewhere to take off the bio wheel because of too much surface disturbance is this true even with low light plants i will be using 110 watts of light and no extra co2 also where is the best place to hang the power filter on the tank on either side or more in the middle

The HOB filters in general can create a lot of surface disturbance, thus gassing off your CO2. Since you do not plan on injecting CO2, it should not be an issue.
I don't think it matters where you hang the power filter on the tank. I honestly can't think of a reason. Although, many use dual or redundant filtration. For example, I run 2 AC 300s on my 55g community, one on each side of the tank. 55g tanks are deep enough that most single filters won't provide adequate water current through the entire tank--supplemental filtration, piping and/or powerheads are really needed, IMO.
