Is there any possible to run an HOB Filter with pressurized C02 or will it just gas the C02 right off? Also, I have some Hygrophila Difformis that is growing leaves at the top and growing them fast but the bottom parts of the stem are completely bare anyone have any idea why.

Sure you can use HOB filter, just not the one with a wheel and also you don’t need any air stone with such a filter. The Hygrophila dropped lower leaves because of lack of light down there or as a result of a bad fertilizer, especially low in NO3 or K.

As long as you avoid heavy splashing, keep the water level high it should be fine. Even bio wheels can be set with little surface agitation. George Booth, an old timer advanced planted tank hobbyist claims the whole notion of bio wheels burning off C02 is overblown, and maintains he has used bio wheels and pressurized C02 together for years without any significant loss. You just want to keep surface agitation to a minimum. Its easy to tell. If your pH is dropping from adding C02 then its not being outgassed. I use HOBs even with some splashing and I don't see any significant loss.

The easy answer is, in general, stem plants drop leaves from the lower portion of the stem when the light is not bright enough. The tops are closer to the light and continue to grow.

I use 2 HOB filters on a pressurized CO2 tank, and don't have any problems at all.For some reason the water in this tank seems to evapotate very quickly,so the water level goes from almost overflowing,to 1/2'' under the bottom of the overflow on the filter. The growth rate of the plants is 2''(at least) a week.
