HOB Output Diffuser

Has anyone made a diffuser to...well...diffuse the water flow from the output of an HOB filter?

TO keep it from agitating the water surface so you dont gass off co2?

you can cut a the top and bottom off of a 2L soda bottle, then cut that in 1/2 or so, then glue, tape, screw, carefully place, etc it so that it blocks the water flow
