On one of the other boards I go to, we always have a thread for posting pics of your holiday decorations, whether its the christmas tree, handmade ornaments, pics of your house all decked out with xmas lights, etc. So, I figure I'll start one here:)

And so, here's our tree. It looked a lot better before the cats (read Dante) wreaked havoc on it. After a while, you stop caring about fixing the ornaments:p

This year, I made some new decorations...I like this one the best, I think, because of the glow on their faces:

I started my xmas village with three little houses this year, they're on the left:

I also painted this little guy who I think is adorable:

And lastly, one of my favorite things - the stockings my grandma made us. She's made one for everyone in the family (mine's from the year I was born and chris' was made just 2 years ago). I love that they're all counted cross-stitch and made completely by hand:)

They don't have to be just Xmas decorations, either. Any winter holiday is fine:)

nice thread:)
I'm gonna post some pics here later tonight, there is a house near me that has - bar none - the best xmas display I've seen in my entire life - not blankets of tasteless lights covering everything, but an actual artistic/quality arrangement that makes me giddy every time I drive by, its like winter wonderland.

geoff... you? Giddy? Why am I having a hard time picturing that?? ;)

Our Christmas Tree (I don't know what happened to our Pooh Bear angel... he was in the frame when I took the picture?!)

My son's tree in his room (hideous I know, he's so proud of it though)

Hopefully we'll have some of THIS decorating the ground this year!!

Yay for pictures!!

Geoff - I'm interested in seeing that. When I was little, we lived in a really snooty neighborhood (didn't last long) filled with huge houses and people with huge egos to match. That made for the most spectacular decorations ever!!! I miss it.

We still go out about once a week, around 8 or 9 at night and just cruise the area looking for the best decorated houses. It's a blast.

Dwayne - Cute trees!....But that last picture is absolutely adorable! I know what you mean about the top getting cut off. In my pic, you were supposed to be able to see a really gorgeous white santa! All you got were his feet!

Thanks leopardess! Your tree looks so pretty! I tried takign a picture of my tree with the lights on, but it just looked washed out and dark. :(

I love driving around looking at lights, as does my son. My hubby could take it or leave it... he loves christmas time, but isn't huge into decorations. If we owned our house though, you can rest assured that we'd resemble the Griswolds!

I too can't wait to see your pics Geoff... there's a street a few towns over that has the most beautiful displays (some of them a bit tacky, but still outrageous and for the most part beautiful)... and you have to drive down the street w/ your windows down because some of the arrangements make noise and other houses have christmas music piped in!

I haven't had a chance to take any this year, but.... I snapped this one last year and I think it looked nice =)

I'll post my pics tonight also. I don't have all of them here at work with me.
On my street on Christmas Eve all the neighbors line the street with luminaries (candles in white bags). It is an impressive site. I'll post a pic of that from last year too.

And last but not least my new decoration for this year. Since I have orders to Okinawa, Japan I will be leaving at the begining of Febuary and will be gone for one year so I started tearing down all my tanks except 2 of them.

So I needed to find a place to set up a Christmas village and where the houses won't get broke. So I got this bright idea to put them in my empty 150g. It turned out pretty good and they can't get broke.

Corax - That's a very artsy pic..I don't know why. Could just be the blur of lights.

Tyler...or are you going by "T" now? The member formerly known as Tyler? T. Tiddy? Whatever it is:)...I love your pics. The outside of your house looks really nice! I like that swag part on what seems (?) to be a garage/big windows?

The mantle is nice too. And that's pretty darn neat with the stuff in the tank...It is out of the way of small, prying hands!

The luminaries are also way cool. I wish people around here did stuff like that. Of course, 80% of the time, the wind and snow falling into them would snuff them out:D

I'll have to agree with Leo, those are great pics, T!! I only have 1 pic of my set up... oh wait, there's 2 but I can try to get more.... any chance of someone making these smaller?
