My 23rd birthday was the 22nd and today i was talking to my mom about what i wanted, and we were disscusing getting a 55 gallon tank, she agreed. 15 minutes later she calls me back and says "are you set on a 55 gallon" i said no.
Turns out one of her friends is moving and has an entire 75 gallon set up she is practically giving away. The only catch is i have to take her fish, all 35 or so of them. i need advice on moving that many fish, she has moved them before and said she only lost one but none the less. Also, i was kind of set on setting up my own tank (possibly a saltwater), im not going to kill her fish just so i can have a fresh start, has anyone had any luck giving fish to stores or something like that. She says there is a tiger shark(i dont know if that is possible, maybe a bala shark?), a big pleco, some angelfish, some barbs and other fish.

i bought 2 red pacus, not knowing how big they would eventually get and i have a 55 gallon, they can grow to 2 feet, so i called my LFS and they said they would take them, just give your local fish store a call and let them know your situation and im sure they'll take them for you...

stores will take them they will give you about half of what they can sell the fish for and its going to be in credit most of the time. tak them to smaller places, petsmart and other chains wont take them.

Wow! Congratulations. :dance There is a short article in the articles section about moving with fish. If you are going to sell them to an lfs you could try to set it up to only move them once - straight from her house. When you catch the Angels make sure they are all seperated and try to do it quickly and gently. The longer it takes the more stressed Angels get. Also try to take out the larger fish first, that way they aren't in your way when you are chasing the tiger barbs, etc. Good luck and what fun!

Sell em to the store so you have $$$ for your saltwater fish! Don't kill them as that would be a huge waste. I actually make good $$ buying fish as tiny babies and growing them out & selling them. Esp expensive fish. Go for it!
